Sri Lankan Theatre Group Melbourne
The Sri Lankan Theatre Group is a community-based theatre group established by Kusumsiri Liyanaarachchi and Yashodhara Sarachchandra in 2007. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, the Sri Lankan Theatre Group has created a window of opportunity for Sri Lankan children, youth and adults in Melbourne to experience theatre and gain theatrical skills. The Sri Lankan Theatre Group is committed to use theatre as a means to cultivate the various aspects of our cultural values among the children of our community and to share it with the wider Australian community. We are dedicated to creating a theatre audience within the wider Australian community for Sri Lankan theatre and folk culture.

Our Workshops
The Sri Lankan Theatre Group has performed over 20 productions since its inception in 2007. The Group has toured Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth in Australia as well as Wellington and Auckland in New Zealand with several productions. We have been performing original work created by the two artistic directors, as well as adaptations, translations and other original works.
Drama workshops conducted by the Sri Lankan Theatre Group are currently held in the South-Eastern suburb of Berwick and in the Northern suburb of Craigieburn in Melbourne. We meet once a week to practice and broaden our horizons in drama and theatre.
