KUSUMSIRI LIYANAARACHCHI – WRITER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND DESIGNER
Kusumsiri is an acclaimed theatre director, writer, actor and film producer. Co-founder of the Sri Lankan Theatre Group, Kusumsiri has been writing, creating and staging his original works since 1996. He has directed and co-directed over 35 productions, which have been staged in Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand. He is a graduate in Fine Arts and Aesthetic Studies (Honours), University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. An ordained Kandyan dancer, Kusumsiri was awarded a scholarship to the National School of Drama, India in 2000. In stage drama, he has an impeccable record of being a popular actor under some of the most respected popular producers and directors of Sri Lanka.
YASHODHARA SARACHCHANDRA – COMPOSER, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND DESIGNER
Yashodhara is an award winning actor and film producer, involved in the performing arts for the past 40 years. Co-founder of the Sri Lankan Theatre Group, Yashodhara is the 2001 recipient of the Bunka prize for Drama by Japan. The youngest daughter Ediriweera Sarachchandra, Yashodhara has performed internationally in countries including England, Singapore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Maldives, Australia and New Zealand. Yashodhara is a graduate in Sociology (Honours), University of Delhi, India. She also holds a Masters degree in Arts from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She was awarded the distinguished Degree of Visharadha in Sitar by the Bathkhande University, Lucknow, India. Yashodhara obtained her Diploma in Vocal Music from the same University. Together with her husband Kusumsiri, she has co-directed, composed music and designed costumes for over 30 productions.
